Bio

Ms Proper born Shantale Person, is a native of Fayetteville, NC but has been in Richmond,VA since the age of 5.

Ms Proper is always writing and she started an Independent label by the name of So Proper Entertainment in 2006. Her plan was to just do background work but she ended up doing a couple of features for her first artist Concise and people just demanded more of her so she decided to pursue it and give the people what they wanted.

Ms Proper began writing poetry and little raps when she was 8 years old. Her mother is big into poetry so it came naturally. Growing up she went through a lot of emotions and family drama so she began writing as an outlet to my pain. Eventually she moved on to other topics but she was so shy at first that she would only let her mother hear her material. She finally broke out of her shell and let the world see her talent.

"My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner, but everything happens for a reason right?" -- Ms Proper

Ms Proper believes can give quality music.

"Not to knock other artists but mainstream hip-hop has taken a road that I just don't understand. I don't crank dances, I don't stanky leg, I'm just me and that's what I put in every record. I'm not trying to be anyone else but myself and that's what a lot of artists lack." -- Ms Proper

Ms Proper brings a new breath of fresh air to the music industry. She is a diverse artist so she can do any kind of topic. However, she doesn't really speak much on being gangsta or stuff like that. Granted she has been around it but she feels she can bring more to music than that.

"It’s hard to find a decent female rapper who isn’t taking the super pop route our trying to be the next Lil Kim. A lot of people say I’m the best female rapper but I don’t just put myself in the category with females. I can go against a male rapper just like a female and hold my own. Matter of fact the only battles or beefs I’ve had were with males." -- Ms Proper

Ms Proper's music is meant for everyone. With every song she wants listeners to get a piece of her.

"I would have to say each song is a different portrait. The instrumental is my canvas and my
words are the picture. I try to paint every picture the best way possible. At times I may be a little abstract but that just means you have to step outside of the box to figure me out. If I don't make you think then what am I but another simple artist? When I speak on personal issues I want you to feel my pain. When I'm saying I'm the best I want you to feel empowered. When I say I'm fly I want you to put your best outfit on. When I talk about my struggle I want you to
reflect on yours. My music is your music. We have the same story with different characters." -- Ms Proper

Ms Proper is signed to her own indie label "So Proper Entertainment", however she does seek a decent distribution deal for the near future.
